Keep Palm Coast Clean – It’s a Litter-ALL Effort: Event Day Impact

On Sunday, April 28, 2024, the City of Palm Coast Public Works Department hosted its sixth ‘Keep Palm Coast Clean – It’s a Litter-ALL Effort’ community litter pick-up event. Early that morning, over 30 volunteers gathered at the Public Works Department to receive supplies and briefing instructions before setting out to collect trash from various roadways in Palm Coast.

During the event, volunteers gathered over 45 bags of trash, totaling more than 600 pounds of debris. This figure included bulky miscellaneous items such as pool umbrella and table. The most common items collected by volunteers were empty drink containers, such as plastic cups, aluminum cans, and glass bottles.

The designated litter-collection routes included Palm Coast Pkwy, Belle Terre Blvd & Pkwy, Whiteview Pkwy, Royal Palms Pkwy as well as Long Creek & Bird of Paradise Parks.

At the event’s conclusion, each volunteer received a Certificate of Completion, recognizing them as ‘Litter-Free Ambassadors’ in recognition of their significant contributions to upholding the city’s cleanliness. Additionally, participant Irina Arabadj was awarded the ‘Litter Warrior Award’ for collecting the most trash, while Girl Scout Troop #2413 received the Litter Busters Award for Teamwork Excellence.

“We want to thank the dozens of volunteers that showed up to help contribute to this event and make a difference here in our community,” said Alyssa Roscoe, Residential Solid Waste Collections Supervisor for the City of Palm Coast. “Our hope is that this ‘litter-all’ effort continues to grow so that we can help to keep our city clean and green for years to come.”

The City of Palm Coast encourages residents and community members to actively participate in maintaining the city’s cleanliness and beauty, fostering a shared responsibility for a cleaner, greener environment.

The next community litter pick-up event is the Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup, scheduled for Saturday, September 21. If interested in volunteering or being included on the email distribution list for all future events and opportunities, reach out to solidwastedivision@palmcoastgov.com
